About Climb Up

Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up is a set of charity events developed by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. Climb Up asks climbers, hikers, cyclists and runners to take on a challenge and recruit sponsors to help African children with AIDS.

How Does Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up Work?

Groups and individuals are invited to select a challenge that they enjoy. The challenge can be anything from a strenuous competition to an enjoyable afternoon with friends. Ideally, the challenge should occur during one of our scheduled events:
  • Climb Up the 50: June 26nd - July 5th
  • Climb Up the World September 18th - 19th
Once an activity is selected, participants are asked to register at ClimbUpSoKidsCanGrowUp.com. Afterward, a member of the Climb Up staff will assist you in creating customized materials to help in promoting your effort, like an online fundraising page, flyer and press releases to help you achieve you athletic and fundraising goals.

What Events Have Other People Done?

Past Climb Up participants have pursued a variety of activities, but your Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up can be as creative as you'd like. We think that activities like these are a good place to start:
  1. Climb a challenging peak in the Cascade, Wasatch or Shawgunk Mountains
  2. Go for a training ride with friends
  3. Hike a leg of the Appalachian Trail
  4. Organize a Walk-a-Thon at a local park
  5. Enter a 3, 6 or 24 hour Team Adventure Race
  6. Run a 5k, 10K or Half Marathon
Remember, the point of the event is to have fun, get active and help others in need. So you can create any type of event that you'd like.
