Heather Glass is a Climb Up the World participant who will tackle The North Face Endurance Challenge 50K in Madison, WI on September 18th. As Heather prepares for her event, she'll be sharing her experiences leading up to the event.
Well, jeez. Where do I start?
I cannot think of a better way to race my first ultra. When I came across "Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up", I was beyond excited. This will not be my first benefit race, as I have raced for numerous other causes...but never like this. Never this extreme. People think I'm a little crazy for signing up for an entry-level ultra. To be specific, the North Face Endurance Challange 50K in Madison, Wisconsin. People think I'm crazier for wanting to race the distance with only two half marathon's under my belt. Crazy? No. Ambitious and determined? Heck yes. And now that the race weekend will be but a small part of Climb Up's "Climb up the World" event, I can't wait to get to the starting line.
I commend all participants in all Climb Up events. I hope Climb Up continues to become more popular, and I plan on spreading the word, as well as participating throughout Climb Up's exisitence! As an avid climber, runner, and triathlete, it will be easy for me (and a future team!) to do so.
I will continue to blog about my training and fundraising progress. So, stay tuned! This will be quite the journey. And best of luck to all Climb Up participants. Rock on.
