Enjoying the Moment

We've slept at an altitude above the summit of Mt. Rainier the last two nights. The night at 15000ft was cold and the air was thin but the view was amazing looking down on the clouds and the summit sitting right above us. Over the las 4 days we've had rain, snow, hail, sun, freezing mist, creeping clouds, and the ocassional gust of heavy wind. We woke up this morning to sun over the camp and clouds 10000ft below. All of our spirits are up, especially Sara who hasn't been warm yet on the trip.

Looking at the mountain this morning I joked with our guide Felix about how far it still is to the top. He came back with the thought of how far we've already come to be right here at this moment. Not just the miles we've hiked but the miles we have traveled. It was a great example of why we all do things like this...to pull ourselves out of the day to day and focus on and appeciate the moment. We've had many on this trip and with an amazing group of people....

Tonight we leave at midnight for the 6 hour climb to the summit.....all in the group are well and ready.
