Fall Fundraiser Follow-up

I pulled into the parking lot of the East Hanover Township Park and smiled. Children were playing on the playground, a family or two were walking the path in the park, and several groups of people were gathered in the pavilion drinking hot drinks and laughing and sharing conversation. Climb Up: Hershey, PA was in full swing and the unexpected October snowfall didn’t seem to bother anyone.

This was a difficult season for AFCA’s fall fund-raisers. Both Climb Up: Hershey, PA and the AFCA Charity Motorcycle Ride were rescheduled after severe flooding in September caused both events to be cancelled and rescheduled. The AFCA Charity Motorcycle Ride occurred on October 22^nd and the participants enjoyed a beautiful fall ride through Lancaster County on a rather crisp and chilly October morning. On October 30^th, participants in Climb Up: Hershey, PA enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon, but had to walk a course that was partially snow-covered and wet. In spite of nature’s challenges to these events, we’re grateful to each participant who attended and supported the programs of AFCA.

Next year the AFCA Charity Motorcycle Ride is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, and Climb Up: Hershey, PA is scheduled for Sunday, October 21. We hope you’ll put these dates on your calendar and plan to join us for fun with a purpose!
